<TD>Introduces you to offshore sailing and how to make short coastal passages during daylight hours. Course takes you on a passage between Pittwater and Sydney Harbour and return. <BR><BR>
<P>You will prepare the yacht to be taken off shore, and explore additional safety items such as harnesses and jack stay lines, what is a liferaft, whats in it and how and when to deploy it, Dan buoy man overboard recovery device. Advanced passage planning including on board system checks, tools and spares to be carried, victualling including food, water and fuel - how much should be carried and where are the closest re stocking points if needed. Check charts and pilots for your intended journey and plan your route. </P></TD></TR></TABLE>

<P><BR>Advanced navigation including working with a GPS, way points are entered and you will explore set and drift. Advanced methods of position fixing and accurate recording in log book. Advise coastal radio stations of your position and plans and receive weather and warnings using VHF radio. Advanced preparation for bad weather including setting storm sails, use of emergency tiller, alternative method of steering and setting a drogue to slow your speed. Explore crew delegation and watchkeeping duties. How to enter un familiar ports and choose a safe anchorage and navigation and yacht handling at night. </P>
