Introduces you to offshore sailing and how to make short coastal passages during daylight hours. Course takes you on a passage between Pittwater and Sydney Harbour and return. You will prepare the yacht to be taken off shore, and explore additional safety items such as harnesses and jack stay lines, what is a liferaft, whats in it and how and when to deploy it, Dan buoy man overboard recovery device. Advanced passage planning including on board system checks, tools and spares to be carried, victualling including food, water and fuel - how much should be carried and where are the closest re stocking points if needed. Check charts and pilots for your intended journey and plan your route. |
